Friendly Finds Bookstore
The Friendly Finds Bookstore inside the Carmel Valley Library has a great selection of used books that is refreshed three times a week. Proceeds from book sales help fund library programs.

Drop off used books in good condition at the main desk. Staff will gladly provide a donation receipt.
FAQs
How much do the books cost?
Most books are $1 each and all proceeds go to the library. Rare and out-of-print books are $5 each.
When is the bookstore open?
The bookstore is open during library hours.
Where is the bookstore?
Books for sales are available at a few locations in the library:
- Hardcover books are in bookcases immediately inside the front door of the library on the left.
- Most books are located in a room on your righthand side immediately past the entryway.
- Rare and out of print books are located in a bookcase just outside the main bookstore room.
Do other library branches also sell used books?
- Most of the branches in the San Diego Public Library system have bookstores or book sales. Learn more.

What happens to a donated book?
Library staff will first determine if a book is needed for the library collection. If it is not needed:
- Volunteers scan the book to see if it we can receive money for it from a book retailer.
- Books are sorted and put up for sale in the Friendly Finds Bookstore.
- Books are donated to other nonprofits such as Burrito Boyz, Polinsky Center, and Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
